PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a horizontal-water/single runner/front port double discharged Francis turbine capable of providing excellent maintainability by reducing the modification works of an existing facility. PSOLUTION: For updating, the horizontal-water/single runner/front port double discharged Francis turbine is used in place of a horizontal-water/double runner/front port twin Francis turbine installed in a water power station. In the horizontal-water/single runner/front port double discharged Francis turbine used for the updating, an operating mechanism 4 for a guide vane 5 is installed on the outside of a casing 10. Also, the position of a water inlet pipe 1 for leading water into the casing 10 and the position of a water discharge pipe 15 for discharging water from a suction pipe 6 are interchangeable with those of the horizontal-water/double runner/front port twin Francis turbine.
