PURPOSE: A weft measuring storage device of a shuttless loom is characterized by reducing damage of weft and preventing weft insertion from failing. A connecting position of a holding pin and a storage drum is upper side of a rotation direction of a rotary yarn guide than a upper side of a middle axial line of the storage drum. A range of the connecting position thereof is to a position crossed the horizon passing the middle axial line and cylindrical surface of the storage drum. CONSTITUTION: A weft measuring storage device of a shuttless loom comprises: a rotary yarn guide(17) rotating continuously around a storage drum(19) at a standstill; a storage device(10) winding weft around the storage drum(19), holding and unwinding the weft with a holding pin(31) driven back and forth to circumference of the storage drum(19); and a measuring device supplying the weft from a yarn feeder to the rotary yarn guide(17) at the same velocity as velocity winding the rotary yarn guide(17). A weft insertion method is as follows: unwinding the weft wound around the storage drum(19) before starting weft insertion to start the weft insertion; and weft-inserting the weft supplied from the measuring device through the rotary yarn guide(17). A position setting method of the holding pin(31) of the weft measuring storage device is as follows: determining a period of the weft insertion in advance; and setting a position of the holding pin(31) in weft-inserting in time that residual yarn quantity of the weft of the storage drum(19) is below proper length, to be situated above the horizon passing a center of the storage drum.
