PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a hollow optical transmission member precursor made of a synthetic resin, having an ideal GI type refractive index distribution which attains a broad transmission band, and capable of enlarging diameters.;SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the hollow optical transmission member precursor made of a synthetic resin, which is a hollow cylinder having outer peripheral and inner peripheral surfaces, a polymerizable monomer (A) and a non-polymerizable compound (B) having a refractive index different from that of a polymer produced from the polymerizable monomer (A) are held in a hollow cylinder shape having outer peripheral and inner peripheral surfaces, the outer peripheral surface is heated and/or photoirradiated, and the inner peripheral surface is cooled, whereby the polymerizable monomer (A) is polymerized from the outer periphery side of the outer peripheral surface.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
