PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel photostabilizer that comprises a specific benzenedithiol copper complex and is useful for production of optical recording medium excellent in light fastness, record storability, persistence and sensitivity and a recording ink excellent in persistence and record storability and a resin excellent in persistence and ultraviolet absorption. SOLUTION: This novel compound is a complex (A) represented by formula I X1 -X6 , one or more of them are a group of the formula: -COOR1 (R1 is H, a (substituted) alkyl), a group of the formula: -CONR2 R3 [R2 and R3 are H, a (substituted) alkyl] or the adjacent two link to each other to form a group of the formula: -CONR8 CO- (R8 is R2 ) and the others are each H, a halogen; A+ is ammonium, phosphonium or the like}, typically copper- tetrabutylammonium complx. The compound of formula I is prepared by allowing a compound of formula II and a compound of formula III to react with a copper salt that can feed copper ion to form the copper complex, followed by allowing a compound feeding a prescribed cation to react with the complex.
