PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing calcium carbonate capable of simultaneously manufacturing an alkali metal sulfate using various kinds of gypsum containing various kinds of byproduct gypsum of flue gas desulfurization gypsum, and the like, and to provide a method for flue gas desulfurization or a method for neutralization of sulfuric acid.;SOLUTION: The calcium carbonate is manufactured by introducing carbon dioxide into slurry mixed with ≥1 kinds of hydroxides of metals selected from alkali metals such as sodium hydroxide, gypsum and water, and at this time, the alkali metal sulfate such as sodium sulfate can be simultaneously manufactured secondarily. Further, the flue gas desulfurization or the neutralization of the sulfuric acid is performed utilizing the obtained calcium carbonate. When introducing the carbon dioxide, the calcium carbonate having various kinds of particle shapes desired can be manufactured by controlling the introducing speed and the slurry temperature.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
