PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical image diagnosis support method and apparatus capable of automatically taking out and automatically confirming tomographic images photographed at a navel position by a computer. PSOLUTION: The medical image diagnosis support method comprises: a process (S301) of reading the tomographic image of an examinee; an extraction process (S302) of extracting the body tissue region of the examinee from the tomographic image; a detection process (S303) of detecting a recessed region where the recessed part of the examinee is photographed from the tomographic image; and a selecting process (S304) of selecting the recessed region close to the navel shape of the examinee from the recessed regions detected in the detection process.
