PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binaphthyl compound giving an organic electroluminescent element, having excellent heat-resistance, driving stability and drivable at a low voltage and keeping a stable luminescent property even at a high temperature, a method for producing the compound and an organic electroluminescent element produced by using the same.;SOLUTION: The binaphthyl compound is expressed by general formula (1) (Ar1 to Ar4 are each a monocyclic or condensed ring group of a 5- or 6-membered aromatic hydrocarbon group; (m) and (n) are each an integer of 0-4; m+n≥1; and the naphthalene ring may have arbitrary substituents). The binaphthyl compound is produced by the Ullmann reaction. The organic electroluminescent element has a hole transfer layer containing the binaphthyl compound.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
