PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and accurately mark a reference line, relating to an aid for use in marking an excised surface at the distal end of a femur for artificial knee joint replacement. SOLUTION: An L-shaped first support arm 10 has a protruding part 10-1 and a second support arm 12 is slidably fitted into a guide slot 14 in the protruding part 10-1 and locked by a lock knob 16 after the spacing between them is adjusted. The support arms 10 and 12 have respective guide slots 19 and 20 therein and a marking guide bar 18 having a cross section shaped like the edge of a knife is fitted into the guide slots 19 and 20. The lock knob 22 locks the bar 18 at an appropriate position. The support arms 10 and 12 have respective pointed locking pins 24 and 26 at their respective lower ends. The locking pins 24 and 26 are anchored to the central point of the accessory ligament attaching part of a femoral condyle and appropriately rotated about the central point to cause the bar 18 to abut the excised surface B at the distal end of the femur to draw the reference line L with the bar 18 used as a scale.
