PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-coated cemented carbide cutting tool having a hard coating layer for exhibiting superior chipping resistance under a high speed double cutting condition.;SOLUTION: The hard coating layer in the surface-coated cemented carbide cutting tool is formed by physically depositing the hard covering layer composed of a composite nitride layer of Ti, Al and Ta in the whole average layer thickness of 1 to 15 μm on a surface of a tungsten carbide group cemented carbide base body or a titanium carbonitride cermet base body, and is composed of a hard coating layer having a component concentration distribution structure for allowing an Al maximum including point and an Al minimum including point to alternately repeatedly exist at a prescribed interval in the layer thickness direction, and allowing the Al content to continuously change to the Al minimum including point from the Al maximum including point and to the Al maximum including point from the Al minimum including point.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
