PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a construction method and a shield machine for tunnels capable of constructing a main tunnel and a widening tunnel closely to each other and fixing the widening tunnel to the main tunnel and further securing cut off between tunnels.;SOLUTION: Segments 4 spread on the inside wall of the main tunnel hole 3 excavated by a shield machine 1 to construct the main tunnel 33 and a widening cutter 8 is projected from the side of the shield machine 1 to the radial outside to excavate the widening tunnel hole 7 along the main tunnel hole at the side of the main tunnel hole 3.
