PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of conducting measurement of dissolved rare gas in groundwater accurately, in a short measuring period and a vacuum vessel for encapsulating a rock core for use in the measurement.;SOLUTION: An underground rock core is collected, and is cut to a predetermined size. The surface of the rock is peeled off to be shaped by a rock shaping apparatus. The shaped rock core is encapsulated in a vacuum vessel, which is then roughly evacuated. After the vacuum vessel is retained for a predetermined period under the roughly-evacuated state, rare gas is diffused into the vacuum vessel. After the diffusion, the vacuum in the vacuum vessel is increased. Moisture vapor contained in the rare gas is removed by cooling it by liquid nitrogen.
