PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a uniaxially oriented film made of a resin composition containing a syndiotactic polystyrene and polyphenylene oxide, wherein the strength in the orientation direction is higher than that of a non-oriented film of the syndiotactic polystyrene composing the film, while the strength in the direction perpendicular to the orientation direction of the film is equivalent to that of the non-oriented film, and a manufacturing method for the uniaxially oriented film. PSOLUTION: The resin composition containing the syndiotactic polystyrene and polyphenylene oxide is formed into the film and subsequently uniaxially oriented to manufacture the amorphous uniaxially oriented film wherein the syndiotactic polystyrene contains a mesophase.
