PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for fluorinating a β-dicarbonyl compound to form a correspondipg α-fluorinated-β-dicarbonyl compound. ;SOLUTION: This method is represented by the following reaction scheme of the formula (R1 is H, an alkyl or an alkoxy; R2 is H, an alkyl or a perfluoroalkyl; R3 is H, Cl, Br, I or an alkyl). When oxygen is used in a fluorine flow, a reaction product having 90-96% purity and containing a radical fluorination impurity at a level lower by 10-20% than a method using no oxygen is obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
