PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing paper having a basis weight as low as ≤30g/m², especially of ≤28g/m² and having excellent printability and bookbinding suitability.;SOLUTION: This printing paper having the basis weight as low as ≤30g/m² satisfies the following conditions: (1) the air-permeability (JIS P 8117) is 50-400sec.; (2) the opacity (JIS P 8138) is ≥70%; (3) the WAX pick surface strength (JIS P 8129) is ≥5A; (4) the tensile strength (JIS P 8113) is ≥2.5kN/m; (5) the static friction coefficient of top-top, top-back and back-back surfaces (in conformity to JIS P 8147) are ≤0.60 each; and (6) the shrinkage ratio is ≤0.1%. The shrinkage ratio is determined by preparing a paper piece of 100mm wide and 1 m long along the flow direction of the paper in an atmosphere of 23°C and 50%RH, pulling the paper piece by uniformly applying a load of 2kg/100mm to an end of the long side, keeping the state for 1 week, removing the load and measuring the length after 1 hr.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
