PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable failure of an image sensor to be certainly judged with regard to an image sensor behavior judging method, apparatus and program. PSOLUTION: There is provided a system in which transaction cards are read by an image sensor at the time of transactions to print and record the images. The system is provided with: an image sensor 3 for reading the images of the transaction cards 2; an image memory 4 for storing the image data read by the image sensor 3; a writing/reading out means 6 for writing the data in the image memory 4, or reading out the data from the image memory 4; and a control means 1 that writes beforehand a specific code in a predetermined location of the image memory 4, and, after the image data that had been read by the image sensor 3 have been written in the image memory 4, and that reads out the written contents to judge that the image sensor is defective when the specific code has been read out.
