PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring method by which a volume expansion at an arbitrary position in the oven length direction of a coke oven can be measured easily by a combustion chamber pitch under operation of the coke oven without requiring a large-scale device in the measuring method for measuring the amount of the expansion in the oven length direction of the coke oven, and to provide an apparatus therefor.;SOLUTION: The method for measuring the volume expansion of an oven body of the coke oven comprises measuring the positions in the oven length direction of fixed points 5 of the bottom parts of each combustion chamber from the top of the oven to measure the distribution of the expanded amounts in the oven length direction of each position of the coke oven, and the apparatus is used therefor. A position-measuring device is installed on the top of the coke oven so as to be movable in the oven length direction. The position-measuring device has a telescope 2 by which the angle to the perpendicular direction can be determined. The bottom part of each combustion chamber is observed from the top of the oven by the telescope 2, and the fixed point 6 in the view 10 of the telescope 2 is regulated so as to coincide with the fixed point 5 of the bottom part of the combustion chamber by moving the telescope 2 in the oven length direction, to measure the position in the oven length direction of the fixed point 5 at the bottom part of each combustion chamber based on the position in the oven length direction of the telescope 2 at the coincided position.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
