Optical system and method for generating optical servo writer system, the servo mark to the digital linear tape

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a ghost beam which makes an undesirable mark by hitting a tape.;SOLUTION: The optical servo writer system (50) includes a laser (54), an attenuator (56), a beam expander (58), a diffraction optical element (60) and three lenses (62, 64, 66). The system (50) is used for generating an optical servo mark (80) on a tape (68). The laser (54) generates a beam of a collimation light (70) directed to the attenuator (56). Light (72) coming out of the attenuator (56) is directed to a beam expander (58), light (74) coming out of the expander is directed to the diffraction optical element (60) and is divided into a servo beam which is a desirable beam (76) and a ghost beam which is an undesirable beam (78).
