PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable highly efficient electromagnetic field detection using AB effect or AC effect under a normal temperature. PSOLUTION: The electromagnetic field detection device 10 has three stacked insulation layers 2, 3, 4. The breakdown field of the insulation layer 3 is larger than that of the insulation layers 2, 4. The three insulation layers 2, 3, 4 are held between a pair of electrodes 5, 6. The insulation layer 3 and the boundaries 7, 8 at opposite ends of the overlapping range of the opposing surfaces 5a, 6a of the electrodes 5, 6 in the Z direction are spaced apart, respectively, by the thicknesses t1, t3 of the insulation layers 2, 4. When an electric field causing breakdown of the insulation layers 2, 4, but not causing breakdown of the insulation layer 3 is applied between the pair of electrodes 5, 6; two ballistic current passages are formed between the pair of electrodes 5, 6 to hold the insulation layer 3 between.
