PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical noise inspection device for prime movers and a mechanical noise inspection method for prime movers capable of shortening a noise inspection time for a prime mover, and dispensing with power facilities and an external drive unit.;SOLUTION: This mechanical noise inspection device for prime movers, for inspecting the mechanical noise of an engine to be inspected, comprises a pickup 11 for measuring the vibration of the engine to be inspected, a sound analysis section 15 for analyzing the waveform of a vibrational signal obtained by measurement with the pickup 11 and extracting features of engine noise, and a quality determination section 16 for determining whether the engine is conforming from the features of the engine noise analyzed by the analysis section 15, rotates the engine to be inspected by a power supply device for driving a starter motor attached to the engine to be inspected and measures its vibration.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
