PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce tungsten carbide based alloy powder for producing tungsten carbide based cemented carbide which has excellent high temperature properties. PSOLUTION: The tungsten carbide based cemented carbide is obtained by incorporating oxygen and nitrogen into tungsten carbide having a purity of ≥99.9 mass%. The content of the oxygen is 0.2 to 0.5 mass% based on measurement by an infrared absorbing method prescribed in JIS H1402, and the content of the above nitrogen is 0.1 to 0.3 mass% based on measurement by a thermal conductivity method prescribed in JIS G1228. In the hexagonal crystal structure, an (a) axis has 2.9020 to 2.9050 Å, and a (c) axis has 2.8390 to 2.8420 Å based on lattice constant measurement by X-ray diffraction analysis prescribed in JIS K0131.
