PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voltage converter which performs voltage conversion so as to prevent the drop of operation properties of an inverter when atmospheric temperature drops and motor counter electromotive voltage goes higher than inverter breakdown voltage. PSOLUTION: A controller 30 receives the signal of inverter cooling water temperature Tiv from a temperature sensor 13, and determines whether the inverter cooling water temperature Tiv is lower than the reference voltage or not. Then, the controller 30 raises the boosting ratio of a step-up converter VBC when it determines that the inverter cooling water temperature Tiv is lower than the reference voltage, and generates a signal PWMUSB-/SBup for driving the step-up converter VBC and outputs it to NPN transistors Q1 and Q2.
