PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To convert a feedstock having a high pour point into a fraction exerting a high yield, a low pour point and a high viscosity index. ;SOLUTION: In a process for improving the pour point of a feedstock containing a paraffin having a carbon number of 10 or larger, the feedstock which is to be treated is brought into contact with a catalyst which is based on zeolite IM-5 and contains at least one hydrogenation.dehydrogenation element in the presence of from 50 to 2,000 liter hydrogen per 1 liter feedstock at from 170 to 500°C under from 1 to 250 bar at a space velocity per hour of from 0.05 to 100 h^-1.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
