PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder capable of surely preventing falsification of a printed material at low cost, an authentication document capable of surely preventing falsification thereof, a document authenticating device capable of surely and immediately judging the forgery of the authentication document, a method and a system for authenticating the document and a method of discriminating an ink jet head capable of surely discriminating a recording head at low cost. SOLUTION: Dots are formed on an authentication document 50 as a head discrimination pattern 52 in such a manner that dots are not contacted with each other by each nozzle 21A provided to a head chip 20A of an ink jet head 20. A dot position 26A of a dot by an ink drop ejected from a defective nozzle 21B is shifted from an ideal dot position 26B so that the ink jet recording head 20 is discriminated based on the information indicating the position shift.
