PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an activity for removing a nitrogen oxide (DeNOx activity) to be displayed in a low temperature area and the DeNOx activity to be maintained even in a wide temperature range by forming a composition containing tellurium, platinum and a fire-resistant inorganic oxide. ;SOLUTION: This catalyst for removing a nitrogen oxide contains preferably 0.1-5 wt.% of platinum, more preferably 0.5-2 wt.%, and preferably, 0.05-5 wt.% of tellurium, more preferably 0.1-2 wt.% for a fire-resistant inorganic oxide. For the raw material compound of platinum to be used, dinitrodiamine platinum, platinum chloride and the like are named and form the raw material of tellurium to be used, telluric acid, sodium tellurate (Na2TeO3) and the like are named. In addition, the fire-resistant inorganic oxide to be used is, for example, alumina, titania or the like. But alumina is preferred. This catalyst for removing a nitrogen oxide is obtained by coating a honeycomb structure as a catalyst of the honeycomb structure.
