PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for recovering nitrous oxide from a gaseous mixture of nitrous oxide with nitrogen monoxide and purifying the recovered nitrous oxide so that high-purity nitrous oxide can be obtained industrially at a low cost. PSOLUTION: When nitrous oxide is recovered from the gaseous mixture of nitrous oxide with nitrogen monoxide and the recovered nitrous oxide is purified by using an adsorption unit 1 in which zeolite is housed, nitrogen monoxide is desorbed selectively from the zeolite on which nitrous oxide and nitrogen monoxide are adsorbed by reducing the pressure of the unit 1 by a pressure reducing pump 2 and keeping the temperature of the zeolite within the first temperature range by a thermostatic chamber 3 and then nitrous oxide is desorbed from the nitrogen monoxide-desorbed zeolite by reducing the pressure of the unit 1 by the pump 2 and keeping the temperature of the zeolite within the second temperature range by the chamber 3.
