PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader capable of accurately reading an image by correctly detecting the original and also transferring the read image to a legitimate opposite party in the case of transferring the read image to an information processor. SOLUTION: This image reader automatically decides a threshold for original detection on the basis of the brightness of diffused external light, also confirms the addresses of clients, i.e., personal computers 2 and 3 on a network, confirms that the operators of the clients are legitimate receivers of the image and subsequently transfers the image.
