Process for Preparing Improved Catalysts for Selective Oxidation of Propane Into Acrylic Acid

The invention concerns the selective oxidation of propane into acrylic acid using highly selective catalysts and relates more particularly to a process for preparing these improved catalysts and their use for the production of acrylic acid from propane. The improved catalysts having the formula: Mo₁V_a(Te and/or Sb)_b(Nb and/or Ta)_cSi_dO_x wherein a is between 0.006 and 1, b is between 0.006 and 1, c is between 0.001 and 0.5, d is between 0 and 3.5, and x is dependant on the oxidation state of the other elements, are obtained by adding a doping agent constituted by at least one component selected from Nb and Ta to a mainly orthorhombic phase prepared by hydrothermal method of a Mo—V—(Te and/or Sb)—O mixed metal oxide, optionally containing Nb and/or Ta and/or Si.
