The method involves intermittently applying lubricant on a part of the transport surface (7) of the conveyor belt (3) of a conveyor (1) during a part of the second path portion of the conveyor belt moving in the return direction, as well as on a part of the guiding surface (10) of the conveyor belt during a part of the second path portion of the conveyor belt moving in the return direction. The lubricant is a waterless lubricant adapted to adhere to the transport surface and to the guiding surface of the conveyor belt. An independent claim is also included for the lubrication equipment for conveyor.
