Animals with a weight exceeding a given value are located to a corridor (7) in the stall (1), where they are further fattened until ready for slaughter. The remaining animals are further fattened in the sleep and feeding spaces (5, 6A, 6B) in the stall. The stall contains at least three separate regions, namely a sleep space for lying down in, a feeding space and a corridor. Animals are initially housed in the sleep space, from where they have access to the feeding space. An independent claim is also included for a stall for fattening animals, comprising at least one sleep space, at least one feeding space with feed troughs (8A, 8B) and at least one corridor with feed troughs (18), all separated by walls.
