Water is added to an outer container and an inner container located snugly inside this outer container is pushed down in order to force water through a filter in the bottom of the outer container and into the inner container. A filter system for water comprises a filter which is placed in the bottom of an inner container which fits snugly inside an outer container in a watertight manner. The water requiring filtration is added to the outer container and by pushing down on the inner container the water is made to flow towards the bottom of the outer container and out through the filter into the inner container.
