In general, the encoding model is selected for each section based on signal characteristics indicating the type of audio content in the respective section. For some remaining sections, such selection is not feasible, however. For these sections, the selection made for respectively neighboring sections is statistically evaluated. The coding model for the remaining sections is then selected based on these statistical evaluations.
