METHODS FOR ASSESSING THE EFFICACY OF ANTICARIES ON OTHERSAL TOOTH SURFACES. The present invention relates to methods for caries assessment, remineralization, demineralization and / or erosion on occlusal surfaces of teeth such as grooves and fissures. In particular, the present invention relates to an intraoral method for evaluating caries on occlusal surfaces comprising the steps of: a. preparation of a dental specimen with at least one closed end recess; B. preparation of a temporary crown or artificial tooth with a cavity on the occlusal surface; ç. placing the dental specimen in the cavity so that the undercut opening of the dental specimen faces outwards; d. seating of the temporary crown or artificial tooth in the oral cavity of the test subject; and. exposure of the test subject's oral cavity to the test conditions; f. measurement of the degree of effectiveness of dental caries in the dental specimen. The methods described herein are especially useful for determining the effectiveness of anticaries for oral care compositions, such as solid and chewable unit dosage forms.
