The additive includes a calcium component, a suspending agent, castor oil, and optionally castor oil additives / partial substituents thereof. In many embodiments, the additive also includes a polyalphaolefin. Preferred suspending agents are fatty acid esters, triglycerides and other compounds with a pour point / melting point of from about 5 ° C to about 50 ° C. Of particular interest are the following suspending agents: 1) polymerized esters of ricinoleic acid (polymerized ester (s) of 12-hydroxyoleic acid); 2) polymerized ester (s) of 12-hydroxystearic acid; 3) waxy esters of ricinoleic acid; 4) palm oil; 5) palmoleic acid; 6) coconut oil; 7) jojoba oil. Waxy esters can be formed by polymerizing shorter carboxylic acid monomers. This additive can be introduced into the fuel in order to improve the performance of internal combustion engines, namely fuel economy and reduce harmful emissions. Polyalphaolefin may be important, especially in diesel fuel additive formulations, in terms of reducing the amount of NO in exhaust gases. This additive can be introduced into lubricating oils used to improve the operational characteristics of engine parts, firearms or other mechanisms made of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
