A union fabric of glass yarns and jute yarns or yarns of fibres allied to jute comprises glass yarns or glass roving woven with jute yarns or jute blended yarn or yarns of fibres allied to jute. In the union fabric either glass yarn, or glass roving woven in warp direction and jute yarns or yarns of fibres allied to jute woven in weft direction, or, glass yarns or glass roving woven in weft direction and jute yarns or yarns of fibres allied to jute woven in warp direction. Yarns of fibres allied to jute are yarns from the fibres of mesta, kenaf, pineapple leaf, ramie and sisal. The union fabric contains 15 to 80 warp yarns and 12 to 80 weft yarns per decimetre of width and length respectively. The glass yarns or glass roving content in the union fabric ranges from 20 to 80 per cent and the linear density is between 100 to 2400 tex. The linear density of the jute yarns or yarns of fibres allied to jute is between 150 tex to 1000 tex. The union fabric is woven in any desired pattern. The said woven union fabric, as reinforcement, is impregnated with resin and laminated in multiple layers, pressed and heated for homogeneous mixing of union fabric with resin matrix to prepare a composite.
