A master unit is plugged into an existing relay box and the signal generated in this box by the rail traffic management system used for safety purposes is sent to the unit, which in turn transmits a warning signal to the warning device for alerting the workers. An independent claim is also included for a combination of a mobile master unit and an interface for carrying out this method.
