The system is based on the following processes: (1) market place process in which a seller offers a number products at a price determined by the seller: (2) request for more (rfm) process in which a buyer makes an offer for a higher number of products at the same price, the number being chosen by the seller and the offer being sent to one or more sellers simultaneously; (3) counterbid (Cb) process in which the buyer can make a request to one or more sellers simultaneously, naming a different price to that quoted by the seller; (4) request for order (rfo) process allowing the buyer to send an order request to one or more selected sellers; (5) Dutch auction process as described in NLC-1028112; (6) preferred masterlist process allowing the buyer to request a product with specifications chosen by the buyer; (7) auto-alert process for alerting the buyer that a product with the desired specifications is available to buy; (8) auto-bid process for automatically bidding for products meeting the user's specification requirements, at a predetermined price and in a predetermined quantity; and (9) standing order process to allow the products to be purchased at the same price and in the same quantity at predetermined intervals in the future.
