The security device (1) is for a ladder and protects against sliding away, tipping and similar. It is attached to the ladder uprights (2) and clamped to an upstanding edge of a roof gutter. It has an installation assembly (7) and a clamp assembly (8). The clamp assembly in a connecting component (16) incorproates a first vertical arm (14) displaceable by a screw bar and a firmly installable second arm (18), which can be installed in different positions. An extension piece can be fitted for all types of wider edges in order to fix the security device.
