The float (4) moves on a ater surface (3) and a fishing line (1) is normally attached to a rod. It is also attached to the float and at its end is a hook (9), near to which is a weight (8). The fishing line is guided along the float by a guide eyelet (6) fixed to the under side of the float, where it is clamped by a rubber band (2). On its under side, the float has a transparent window (5), through which a light beam (7) shines. This light beam shines downwards more or less parallel to teh line and close to the hook. Bait is fixed to the hook. Fish are attracted by the light beam and swim towards it, where they engage the bait on the hook. The light is generated by a laser light source.
