Disclosed is a process for the basic or acid catalysed esterification and/or trans-esterification of fatty acids and/or oils and/or fats, including the step of dispersing a short chain alcohol into a liquid raw material to form a dispersion, said dispersion having a globule size between about 1 micrometers and about 50 micrometers, wherein the liquid raw material is selected from the group consisting of fatty acids, oils, fats and combination thereof and wherein the liquid raw material also includes a catalyst selected from the group consisting of a basic or acid catalyst.
