System for measuring ultraviolet solar radiation with means for displaying UV information in a public or private place

A system for displaying levels of ultraviolet solar radiation comprises a detector for detecting levels of ultraviolet solar radiation; a module for processing the detected levels of ultraviolet solar radiation and coupled to the detector and a public display coupled to the module. The detector includes an ultraviolet filter and has an analog to digital convertor. The public display has a plurality of coloured lights indicating the detected levels of ultraviolet solar radiation. The illuminated coloured light is indicative of the level of ultraviolet solar radiation.
