Hydrochloride salt of 5-[4-[2-(N-methyl-N-(2- pyridyl)amino)ethoxy]benzyl]thiazolidine-2,4-dione provides an infra red spectrum containing peaks at about 1745, 1516, 1257, 1056 and 803 cm-1, provides an X-ray powder diffraction pattern containing peaks at about 10.1, 13.4, 17.2, 22.2 and 29.4 °2theta and/or provides a Raman spectrum, containing peaks at about 1314, 1242, 1185, 918 and 404 cm-1 .
