Method for prediction of zones of non-stable state of host rocks of immediate roof of coal seam includes geological survey, determination on basis of data of geological survey of properties of host rocks of immediate roof, operation geometric characterization of coal seam and host rocks of immediate roof bedding in process of implementation of mining works, plotting map of gradient of main curvaturesof surface of bedding of coal seam within limits of mine field or of its part. To provide possibility of account of properties of tectonic condition of host rocks of immediate roof, one in addition determines gradient of destructive curvatureof host rocks of immediate roof of coal seam within same boundaries of mine field or its part by given dependence. After that one compares values of gradient of destructive curvatureto maximal values of gradient of main curvaturesand in case of, one makes conclusion on presence of zones of unstable condition of host rocks of immediate roof of coal seam.
