THERE IS DISCLOSED A FOMULATION OF BIO-CONTROL AGENT FOR CONTROLLING INFESTATION OF BLACK COCOA POD DISEASE AND COCOA POD BORER ON COCOA PODS COMPRISES OF ISOLATES OF EPIPHYTIC BACTERIA FROM COCOA POD SURFACES, SAID ISOLATES BEING PSEUDOMONAS SPINOSA (LKM/B/2),PSEUDOMONAS PUTIDA BIOTYPE A (LKM/B/1; LKM/B/35; LKM/B/76C), BURKHOLDERIA GLADIOLI (LKM/B/4) AND BURKHOLDERIA SPP. (LKM/B/6) HAD A SIGNIFICANT ANTAGONISTIC EFFECT THAT SUBSTANTIALLY INHIBITED THE GROWTH OF P. PALMIVORA. PSEUDOMONAS PUTIDA BIOTYPE A (LKM/B/76C) WAS ALSO FOUND TO SIGNIFICANTLY INHIBIT THE GROWTH OF P. PALMIVORA THROUGH THE PRODUCTION OF ANTIFUNGAL SUBSTANCES AND BURKHOLDERIA GLADIOLI (LKM/B/4) AND PSEUDOMONAS PUTIDA BIOTYPE A (LKM/B/76C) ALSO HAD THE CAPABILITY TO PRODUCE VOLATILE SUBSTANCES THAT INHIBITED THE GROWTH OF P.
