Abstract IR-Sonic Range Finder The following invention describes a cheap and accurate method of measuring distance between 2 devices with electronic circuits capable of producing, detecting and processing IR and Ultra Sonic signals. Figure 1. Optical signals from the measuring device to the device being measured are used as a triggering mechanism for range detection. The measuring device produces an optical trigger signal which is immediately followed by an Ultra Sonic signal. The device being measured detects the IR and Ultra Sonic signals and measures the time difference between the 2 signals. Once the distance has been computed, the measured device transmits the range and other information back to the measuring device using optical signaling method.Figure 1
