An oil recovery unit (1) has container(s) (5) having inflow(s) (6) at its lower part (24). The mixture/emulsion (2) of water (3) and oil (4) can be soaked up and be pressed upwards into the container by pump(s) (8) at the same time as the oil floats upwards in the form of particles (16) and creates an oil bed (17). Holes (10) are provided in discharge channel(s) (11). The surrounding water in the mixture/emulsion is dischargeable as discharged water (13) via existing lower discharge(s) (14) at the same time as the oil bed is discharged via existing upper discharge(s) (15). An oil recovery unit having at least one container for retrieval of a mixture/emulsion of mainly water and oil for separation of the water from the oil. The retrieval is provided via at least one inflow, located at a lower part of the container. The mixture/emulsion can be soaked up and under pressure be pressed upwards into the container by at least one pump at the same time as the oil, which has a lower density than the water, floats upwards in the form of particles in the surrounding water and creates an oil bed on the water, where on at least one place, where the oil particles move upwards, somewhere under the oil bed, at least one collecting place is connected in direct or indirect connection to at least one discharge channel. The collecting place (9) comprises holes provided in the discharge channel or in an upwards directed drainage pipe (25) movably provided at the discharge channel preferably in the middle of the container and through the discharge channel. The surrounding water in the mixture/emulsion, possibly containing a small quantity of oil, is dischargeable from the container, as discharged water, via at least one existing lower discharge, located at the lower part of the container at the same time as the oil bed is dischargeable at an upper part (12) of the container via at least one at that location existing upper discharge. An independent claim is also included for a process for retrieval of a mixture/emulsion and separation of water from oil in an oil recover unit, the process takes place in different stages.
