Production of diffuser panels for scattering light transversely to its direction of incidence comprises extruding a polymethyl methacrylate granulate which is dried to a residual water content of 0.18 - 0.21 % before melting. Extrusion is carried out at a maximum temperature of 290[deg] C and the product is calibrated to a density of at least 1.4 g/m2, especially at least 1.6 g/m2.
