The membrane for selectively transporting ions (1,2) of a preferential polarity in a liquid for electrodialytic seawater desalination, comprises electrical conductive materials with an insulator (4) interrupted by channels (10), which run between chambers to be separated. The conductive material is applied at a polarized voltage opposite to the ions to be transported. The conductive material is superficially isolated metallic lamellas (3) arranged in staple-shaped manner. An elastic light deformable material (9) is arranged as an intermediate layer between the lamellas. A gap present between the lamellas and the intermediate layer are adjusted by bringing a normal force to the surface of the lamellas. The anodized aluminum lamellas are sealed with epoxy resin and are anodically sealed with a neutral silicate solution. The membrane is made from a double-layered endless material consisting of lamella and intermediate layer, which are winded over a circular core to a circular membrane in spiral-shaped manner.
