Component of binding agents, which contain at least one epoxy compound or at least one amino compound with at least two amino groups or at least one hydroxy compound with at least two OH groups or at least , a mercapto compound with at least two SH groups or at least one isocyanate with at least two NCO groups and at least one compound with chelate-forming properties, which contains an amino group or a mercapto group, the compound being chosen from the amino compounds or the aromatic mercapto compounds of the general formula I, II or III in which A means Y or XY and Y means NH2, NHR8 or SH and X means a linear or branched alkyl moiety with 1 to 22 carbon atoms and R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 as well as, in formulas II and III, R6 and R7 mean, independently of each other, H, SO3H, OP (O) (OH) 2, P (O) ( OH) 2, P (O) HOH, COOH, OH, NH2, NHR8, C (O) R8, CN or NO2, meaning R8 hydrogen or an aliphatic, linear or branched, saturated or saturated hydrocarbon moiety unsaturated with 1 to 10 carbon atoms or two contiguous moieties chosen from R1 to R7 together form an aromatic ring or a heteroaromatic ring, without at least two of the R1 to R7 moieties meaning H or a constituent of an annular system aromatic or heteroaromatic and the remaining moieties are arranged such that the compound of the general formula I, II or III can bind in the form of chelate a divalent or polyvalent metal ligand.
