Humidifying device for providing hot moist respiratory gases, comprising; a respiratory gas heating chamber (10, 20) having a closed upper part, enveloping sides, and an open lower part adapted to receive a container (8) for connection thereto adapted to contain a liquid to be vaporized in steam ; a flow control and vapor formation chamber (21) in fluidic communication with said respiratory gas heating chamber to form aerosolized vapor from liquid in fluidic communication with it; nozzle means (22) in fluidic communication with said steam flow and formation control chamber to create an aerosolized vapor from the respiratory gas and the liquid in fluidic communication with said steam flow and flow control chamber; a first orifice (27) located in fluidic communication with said nozzle means such that the flow of respiratory gas from said nozzle means will create a reduced pressure through said first orifice to extract a condensed fluid therethrough; a second hole (28) located in fluidic communication with said nozzle means and separated from said first hole so that the flow of respiratory gas from said nozzle means creates a reduced pressure through said second hole to extract therethrough liquid contained in a container connected to said respiratory gas heating chamber; heating means (5, 11) for heating the aerosolized steam created by said nozzle means; a discharge orifice (23) in fluidic communication with said flow control and steam formation chamber to deliver the aerosolized hot steam to a nasal cannula for a user to inhale; and condensed steam conduction means (23, 35) in fluidic communication with said first orifice to extract through the same condensed steam formed by the cooling of the aerosolized hot steam during delivery thereof to the nasal cannula.
