The apparatus has a head (3) with a casing (5) defining an opening (9) for air flow generated by a fan (6). The head has an air deflector body (10) adapted to orient air flow, distributed by the opening, in a horizontal direction. Nozzles (4) adapted to nebulize the liquid are disposed above the opening. The air flow interacts with the nebulized liquid to diffuse the liquid in an environment to be cooled, by evaporating the liquid. An independent claim is also included for a method for cooling an external environment subjected to solar radiation.
